Towards an agile, model-based multidisciplinary process to improve operational diagnosis in complex systems

Abstract : Systems' online diagnostics require multidisciplinary system knowledge and experience by their operators. When the complexity of the system rises, operational (in-service) diagnostics become a complex task. In an effort to improve the efficiency while better handling the complexity of diagnostics during operations, the authors propose a methodology aiming to increase the agility in complex systems' development processes. This paper introduces a new way to construct operational models early on the development cycle so as to improve the performance of monitoring activities and, ultimately, increase the confidence on the systems' resilience provided by its design.
