Abstract : The main objective of the thesis is to study and develop a biosensor dedicated to the water quality control. Its operating mode will be based on the use of some specialized bacteria chosen for their particular sensitivity to organic molecules. They will be immobilized in instrumented wells designed to optimize their electro-optical responses to stimuli caused by chemical and biological reactions. A monitoring will be set up to control the parameters of exchanges between these bacteria and the wastewater sample in which they are immersed. The material used to develop these bioMEMS will be chosen in order to ensure biocompatibility and also the miniaturization process of device fabrication. Afterwards, their insertion in an instrumental setup will be studied to achieve the optimal conditions to measure the BOD parameters of the water samples. In addition to this part, a modeling approach of bacteria-oxygen interactions will be undertaken to compare the theoretical and experimental results so that the BOD value will be obtained in the shortest time possible.
