Abstract : The problem addressed is the design of a communicating radio interface that meets the needs of wireless communicating microsystems: simplicity, low cost, low power consumption, small footprint, high throughput and reconfigurability. The study focuses on IR-UWB technology (Impulse Radio Ultra-WideBand). A joint study on channel capacity and hardware implementation shows that the 60 GHz mixed-band IR-UWB multiband architecture with directional antennas is optimal in terms of throughput and power consumption. This work presents a proposition of reconfigurability by parameters, which allows to support the widest range of multi-property reconfigurabilities (rate, error rate, range, power consumed, ...) of the state of the art facilitating the support of The overall needs of applications of the context and the evolution of the environment. A new reconfigurable joint synchronization and demodulation method is proposed for an IR-UWB BPSK S-Rake receiver. The measurements show improved performance in synchronization, demodulation, efficiency, network throughput, consumption and complexity of the circuit. The proposed reconfigurable IR-UWB transceiver achieves a higher throughput and reconfigurability range than the state of the art.
